Knife and scissor sharpening
Everyone has a few blunt knives in the cutlery drawer. You may even have one or two that have lost a point, or have a nick in the blade. I can repair your knives and get the cutting edge back to what it was when you first bought them - or even better. Whether it's an old knife that's been through the dishwasher countless times (don't do that!) or a prized piece of Japanese steel, I can bring the edge back to factory sharpness using a precision grinding technique that removes the minimum of metal. Ditto for those scissors that would struggle to cut through a piece of paper - let me make them useful again!

Garden tool sharpening
Garden tools are relatively inexpensive these days, but with even moderate use you can find your edges getting blunt quite quickly. It's always tempting to simply buy more (how many pairs of secateurs have you got?!), but why do that when I can return your garden tools to their former glory? I also sharpen and balance lawnmower blades, loppers, lawn edgers and axes. Whether you're a keen amateur gardener or a professional that needs your tools to be on point - I can help.

How it works
There are several ways you can arrange to have your knives, scissors and garden tools sharpened:
- Drop your knives and garden tools off with me in Barton. We'll arrange a suitable time for you to collect then when they're done - simple! (Please note that I do not sharpen while you wait.)
- If you live within a five mile radius of Barton (B50) and have a minimum £20 worth of things to sharpen, I can collect your knives and garden tools, sharpen them and deliver them back to you on an agreed day at no extra cost.
- Post your knives and garden tools to me, and I will post them back to you once sharpened. For details about how this works, just give me a call or fill in the contact form including what you need to be sharpened, and I'll get back to you.
Above all, I will try to be as flexible as possible and get your sharpened goods back to you in good time. If you're not sure what the best option is for you, just give me a call and we can discuss it.

About me
Hi, I'm Shaun, and for the past 13 years I worked as a freelance web designer. About a year ago, and with my 50th birthday approaching fast, I came to the realisation that I didn't want to spend the next decade sitting in front of a screen. Sharpening gives me great satisfaction and an opportunity to be 'hands on', something I have missed for a long time! It also means I get to go out and meet people, something else you miss when glued to a screen...
I'm not a hobbyist turned 'professional'. I completed my training with the UK's ony approved and authorised sharpening school. For now I am focusing on knives and garden tools, but I will be adding hairdressing scissors, dog grooming scissors and clipper blades soon.

FAQs
Contact me
By FAR the best way to contact me is with a message or email. I am on WhatsApp and Signal, or of course just ordinary text message. You can email me at sharpendinfo@gmail.com. If I am in the middle of sharpening, it's pretty much impossible to answer the phone, but I always try and respond to messages quikcly.
If you fill in the form and would like me to respond with a price, please include as much information as possible about what you need to be sharpened. I don't sharpen ceramic knives or blades that are serrated on both sides (although this is quite rare).
